Past Perfect Continuous Tense

Past Perfect Continuous Tense adalah tense yang digunakan untuk menyatakan suatu hal yang sedang berlangsung di masa lalu tetapi saat ini sudah tidak terjadi lagi. Bisa juga untuk menyatakan suatu kejadian yang berlangsung dimasa lalu sebelum suatu kejadian yang terjadi dimasa lalu. Wah agak ribet nih bahasanya ya? tenang aja kalian akan mengerti setelah melihat contoh dibawah ini.

1. I had been sleeping when they came
2. She had been teaching yesterday at 5pm
3. They said that they had been working

Rumus Past Perfect Continuous Tense

(+) Subject + Had + Been + Verb-Ing + Complement
Contoh :
1. Mother had been cooking when the father was hungry
2. You had been watching when I came
3. If it had been working I never would have asked you

(-) Subject + Had + Not + Been + Verb-Ing + Complement
Contoh :
1. Mother had not been cooking when the father was hungry
2. You had not been watching when I came
3. If it had not been working I never would have asked you

(?) Had + Subject + Been + Verb-Ing + Complement
Contoh :
1. Had mother been cooking when father was hungry?
2. Had you been watching when I came?
3. Had it been working for about 10 minutes?

Past Perfect Tense

Past Perfect Tense adalah tense yang digunakan untu menyatakan kejadian yang sudah terjadi dimasa lalu sebelum sesuatu yang sudah terjadi.. Wah agak ribet ni ya? sebenarnya tense ini biasa juga dipakai untuk menyatakan kalimat pengandaian. Juga untuk menyatakan kalimat tak langsung.

contoh penggunaan Past Perfect Tense sehari-hari :

1. I had done the homework before the teacher came.
(saya sudah menyelesaikan pr sebelum guru datang)
2. If I had known the answers I never asked you.
(Jika aku tau jawabannya aku tidak akan pernah bertanya padamu)
3. He said that he had played well.
(Dia berkata bahwa dia telah bermain dengan baik.

Rumus Past Perfect Tense (With Verb)

(+) Subject + Had + Verb III + Complement
Contoh :
1. They had done the exam before 2008
2. Lusi had cut her hair before she was back to school
3. I had tasted all the Balinese foods when I was 16 years old

(-) Subject + Had + Not + Verb III + Complement
Contoh :
1. They had not done the exam before 2008
2. Lusi had not cut her hair before she was back to school
3. I had not tasted all the Balinese foods when I was 16 years old

(?) Had + Subject + Verb III + Complement
Contoh :
1. Had they done the exam before 2008?
2. Had Lusi cut her hair before she was back to school?
3. Had I tasted all the Balinese food when I was 16 years old?

 Rumus Past Perfect Tense (Without Verb)

(+) Subject + Had + Been + Noun/Adjective + Complement
Contoh :
1. You had been here after I came
2. Anto had been happy when he passed the test
3. We had been angry when we lost

(-) Subject + Had + Not + Been + Noun/Adjective + Complement
Contoh :
1. You had not been hereafter I came
2. Anto had not been happy when he passed the test
3. We had not been angry when we lost

(?) Had + Subject + Been + Noun/Adjective + Complement
Contoh :
1. Had you been here after I came?
2. Had Anto been happy when he passed the test?
3. Had we been angry when we lost?

Simple Past Continuous Tense

Simple Past Continuous Tense atau biasa dibilang Past Continuous Tense adalah tense yang digunakan untuk menyatakan kegiatan yang sedang berlangsung di masa lalu. Tense ini juga biasa disebut past progressive.

Dalam tense continuous pasti semuanya memakai to-be karena menggunakan verb-ing disetiap kalimatnya. Sama halnya dengan past continuous tense tetapi to-be yang kita gunakan pada past continuous adalah bentuk lampau atau bentuk kedua. yaitu Was dan Were.

Rumus Past Continuous Tense

(+) Subject + Was/Were + Verb-Ing + Complement
Contoh :
1. I was playing tennis yesterday at 4 pm
2. You were singing when I was browsing
3. When the competition started she was playing well

(-) Subject + Was/Were + Not + Verb-Ing + Complement
Contoh :
1. I was not playing tennis yesterday at 4 pm
2. You were not singing when I was browsing
3. When the competition started she wasn't playing well

(?) Was/Were + Subject + Verb-Ing + Complement
Contoh :
1. Was I playing tennis yesterday at 4 pm ?
2. Were you singing when i was browsing ?
3. Was she playing well when the competition started ?

Simple Past Tense

Simple Past Tense adalah tense yang digunakan untuk menyatakan kegiatan yang telah dilakukan di masa lalu. Dalam prakteknya sehari-hari Simple Past Tense biasa digunakan untuk menyatakan hal yang telah kita lakukan kemarin, 2 hari yang lalu, minggu lalu, dan masa waktu yang sudah lewat lainnya.

Ada hal yang perlu kalian diperhatikan disini yaitu tentang verb. Dalam simple past tense kita memakai verb II atau kata kerja kedua. Nah dalam bahasa inggris Verb ada yang irreguler dan reguler. Untuk lebih lanjut silakan baca dengan klik "Regular & Irregular Verbs"

Rumus Simple Past Tense (Yang memakai Verb)

(+) Subject + Verb II + Complement
Contoh :
1. I Played Football yesterday
2. She met me last week
3. We won the champions cup

(-) Subject + Did Not + Verb I + Complement
Contoh :
1. I did not play football yesterday
2. She didn't meet me last week
3. We didn't win the champions cup

Dalam negative, kita tidak memakai Verb II dalam kalimat tersebut karena bentuk kata kerja II sudah digantikan oleh did, jadi tidak memakai Verb II tapi kembali ke Verb I. Begitu juga dengan Interrogative.

(?) Did + Subject + Verb I + Complement
Contoh :
1. Did I play Football yesterday ?
2. Did She meet me last week ?
3. Did we win the champions cup ?

Rumus Simple Past Tense (Yang tidak ada verbnya)

(+) Subject + Was/Were + Noun/Adjective + Complement
Contoh :
1. I was angry with my friend yesterday
2. You were here two days ago
3. James was very happy

(-) Subjet + Was/Were + Noun/Adjective + Complement
Contoh :
1. I was not angry with my friend yesterday
2. You were not here two days ago
3. James was not very happy

(?) Was/Were + Subject + Noun/Adjective + Complement
Contoh :
1. Was I angry with my friends yesterday ?
2. Were you here two days ago ?
3. Was he very happy ?
